Maddie's Dance Recital & Grandview's Jenni-Shirts
>> Sunday, May 3, 2009
I went to Clayton this weekend to see Maddie's dance recital. My pictures from Maddie's routine were a little pathetic, but the ones I've posted here are from right before the recital. It was very obvious that she really enjoyed herself. A few of the dances before Maddie got on stage were tough to sit through, though. One group danced to "I Can Only Imagine" and another group danced to "God Bless the Broken Road." Both of those were songs that Jenni really liked, and "I Can Only Imagine" was even played at her funeral. No matter how sad I might have felt, it was a good day. Being around the family without Jenni was kind of awkward... but almost everything that I would have done with her is awkward. It will get easier, I'm sure.
While I was out of town, the faculty from Grandview Middle were participating in the March for Babies. Many of the students who were present were in Jenni's class and they all wore "In Loving Memory of Mrs. Cornwell" shirts. Val was there, so she called me on the phone and told me about it. I might have gone if I had known, but I'm still not a big fan of crying in public and I'm not sure I would have been able to stop myself. As soon as I get pictures, I'll post them. I do have one, but from what I hear, the teacher in the picture doesn't want anyone to see the pic, so I'll wait for the other ones.

Josh,
We were so glad you came. Sitting through "Imagine" was tough for all of us, but at least we did it together. Thanks for coming we're still family.
Grace and Peace
Layne
